Couponing - Not Child's Play

Good morning friends! This is a followup to taking my daughter shopping with coupons. She is 9 years old and loves to shop. However, I found out serious couponing is not child's play. Our first stop was Walmart. I gave her a short list and my binder in the cart. She did a great job here! Of course the list was only 5 items long! She found every item and was so amazed! She even spent time in the isle finding coupons on products while I was hunting for a few extra grocery items.

THEN....we headed to Walgreens. Excitement quickly left as the couponing, finding the right product, matching multiple coupons to the product and separating into 5 different transactions started at this challenge of all coupon locations! You know what I mean - Walgreens is not for the faint at heart, and it certainly was not for a 9-year-old girl. I no sooner turned my back than she was over at the teen magazine section pining over Scotty McCreery (American Idol finalist). Her nose was so stuck in the magazine, she couldn't even run to the candy isle to grab the extra Snickers I needed for "filler items". But I couldn't help but smile - my experiment was just that, an experiment that proved Couponing is Not Child's Play!

Hats off to all those out there clipping, sorting and shopping armed with their binder and a TON of patience. May we grow our children, little by little, into CQs who can vow "Never to Pay Retail" when they have their own family!

Ta-Ta! Have a great day.

I thought your trip might turn out like this... Emaleigh thinks couponing is awesome-- as long as I'm the one doing it-- not her! :)
