Looking for advice and tricks of the mommy trade for breaking the Pacificer habit from your little one. Uggh it is time and 3rd baby is so much harder.
My first 2 were off the pacifier when they went to a cup, but Wes is 2 now and yes I know all the reasons why he shouldn't be on it, but I guess with 3rd child and 10 years later, my patience and stamina for a good old fashioned stand off are not as sharp as they used to be. We are down to just night time and in the car, but with Strep it is making it worse.
When doc told me this week it has to go, I said can I have a script for xanax with that? LOL LOL He has the will of Jobe and no problems standing his ground for what he wants until someone gives in. LOL Usually we are so worn down we give in. Terrible I know where is nanny 911 for this? Don't get me wrong, our kids are angels and so full of life and love for God. Wesley wants what he wants. LOL LOL or maybe it is mommy..
So, I know my family is reading this and my Mom In Law so to that is say: Yes, you told me so. LOL LOL

Does he have to let it go right now? In my experience with my 4 kids, if they can do things on their timetable (potty training, driving, weaning, etc), it just goes so much easier. Why pick a fight if it's not necessary? I haven't seen any kids starting 5k kindergarten with a pacifier. He will probably be ready soon if everyone leaves him alone. The doctor says he has to stop now? Why? And why does the doctor's opinion as to parenting matter? He's paid to deal with sickness, not parenting issues. His opinion on parenting is the same as anyone else's, and you as a consumer are free to take it or leave it.
My only one to take a pacifier was weaned at age 4. All our battles and tactics were useless and just made it worse. Then we got a puppy who found every single pacifier he had over the course of 2 weeks, and chewed them up. He was fine with the puppy and never complained. He is a pretty well-adjusted 16-yr old with no long term consequences of pacifier use:)
